Fridays are a dig deal in Historic Downtown Ripon, Wisconsin. Businesses in the district will host a First Friday Open Air Market from 5:00 to 8:30 pm This casual event is designed to encourage art, entertainment, people watching, eating at Ripon’s fantastic restaurants…and just plain mingling.
Vendors are also welcome to set up on our sidewalks to sell their wares and can sell anything from art to antiques to produce to homemade goods. All vendors with home grown, homemade, original art or vintage/antique items will be given first priority to fill spaces.
Vendor spaces will be approximately 6’ x 12’ and cost $10/space. The $10 fee will be used to promote future downtown events. Please contact Kia Simon or Yvonne Baumgartner if you’d like to participate or know of a potential vendor. Thank you for your support and participation.
In addition, a new activity being added to the event is busking. Ripon Main Street is recruiting buskers (unamplified entertainers) that are interested in performing during the event. “This opportunity will create great exposure for our local entertainers, and possibly generate opportunities for performers to line up future engagements” stated Craig Tebon, Ripon’s Downtown Manager.
The event is open to performances that people find entertaining. Examples of the activities that performers may do include animal tricks, balloon twisting, caricatures, clowning, juggling, magic, mime, living statue, musical performance, puppeteering, storytelling, reciting poetry or prose, etc. All buskers must perform family-friendly material in a cordial way. Buskers are sought to fill 45 minute slots during the evening event, and may perform multiple sets. Buskers will be assigned a location in downtown Ripon, and may perform for gratuities.
