TheRipon College Jazz Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 27. Theconcert will be held in Demmer Recital Hall, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts,on the campus. Professor of Music Kurt Dietrich is the conductor. Admission tothe concert is free.
Selectionswill include several Latin jazz pieces by jazz pianist Chick Corea, and piecesby noted jazz composers and performers Bill Holman, Pat Metheny and DukeEllington. The band also will be the first group to perform Wisconsin composerPaul Dietrich’s “Like Water,” outside of Dietrich’s own Jazz Ensemble.
Theconcert will also feature the Jazz Improvisation group, which will performclass small group compositions by John Coltrane and others.
