Saturday, July 31 Fun for All - Berlin
|
| |
Hello to All,
I know many of you have busy, hectic schedules like my family. Our kids ask if they can go over to friends & have friends over... more stress getting it all set up & delivering/picking up & maybe not knowing that family as well as you’d like before leaving your child with them. How about a set time & place for them all to get together and just ‘come and play’?
Starting Saturday, July 31st my 3 boys & I will be at the Square @ 1:00 (if not lightning J) to meet any & all interested, to walk to Riverside and play. Bring jump ropes, frisbees, skip-its, hula hoops, ball/glove, anything you want for playing & sharing. A water bottle might be a good idea too! Or just bring yourselves! No fancy event, occasion, or cost, just giving the kids some playtime together to have some fun, get some exercise, build strong (old & new) friendships and hopefully, strong future teen/adult community members and relationships. Of course all other planned annual festivities are worthy fund-raising & community events to attend as well, and we’re fortunate to have so many, but when these are not going on and the Parks & Rec programs & Boys & Girls Club & sports leagues, etc. wind down for the weekend, the kids still want to play with their friends. So, come and play on Saturday! Get to know other families!
I’ll try to make most Saturdays and hopefully, we can do this into the Fall. This wasn’t started earlier in the summer due to other commitments, as I’m sure some of you will have some Saturdays also. I’ll rely on you to share in helping the kids walk & play safely the Saturdays that you can, but the kids remain the responsibility of their own parents/guardians. I’m sure many of the parents would enjoy joining in the fun too, or just the camaraderie of other parents and families.
If any parents choose to leave their children, that would be at their own risk. If anyone wants to make further plans, such as heading over to the inviting nearby City pool afterwards (great, inexpensive family/friend fun!), that would be up to the individuals. I’m aiming for a 1:00 – 2:30ish time slot for the walk & playtime at the park, so the kids can have some fun and families can still be home in plenty of time to put together the evening BBQ, finish the mowing, make mass and/or the early movie, etc.
I’ve gotten some very positive response, hope you agree & that we’ll see ya’ Saturdays starting in two (7/31)! Come and play!
Mary / Sugar Kids & Mom of Smith boys: Trent, Nick & Tyler (& grown kids Dave & Em)
