Quilting in Markesan!
For those quilt lovers out there, or those in search for an original gift, I have a shop for you! All About Quilting is a must visit when you are in the Markesan area.
I had the privilege to spend an afternoon with Lorrie Jansma owner of All About Quilting to learn about her beautiful shop and would like to share with all of you a few high lights of this original store.
While sipping a fresh brewed pot of coffee she shared her passion for Quilts Of Valor. Quilts Of Valor is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to cover ALL wounded and injured service members from the War of Terror; whether physical or psychological wounds, with a gift from Quilts of Valor. Lorrie is proud to be a drop off site for Quilts Of Valor and shares that this is one way that anyone can give back to our veterans. Whether you donate material, create a quilt or quilt top, donate time to machine quilts, or even donate funds - there are many ways to help. To learn more about Quilts Of Valor please contact Lorrie.
During my tour of her store we also discussed QFL Quilting Football League that her store is a member of. There are over thirty quilting shops in the league. How to play? A membership is twenty dollars for the season, season starting April 1st through August 31st. If you visit any of the QFL stores (stadiums) you then receive points, and if you are wearing your uniform receive extra points. While you visit a stadium there are several ways to earn even more points. For those who participate in this fun Quilting Football League you receive discounts of 7, 14 or 21% off. To me this would be a wonderful way for a mother and daughter to do something fun and different! Again, to learn more about the Quilting Football League please contact Lorrie for full details. It’s not to late to get in.
For those who want to join in on open quilting or learn more about quilting styles, techniques, All About Quilting offers a open quilting session on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
All About Quilting is located in the down town Markesan district on 47 East John Street and can be contacted at 920-398-2009 or via email at jansmas@hotmail.com.
Once again Lorrie, thank you for taking the time to let me visit your store and learn about all the creativity you offer our community!
